As the semester begins I have been trying to get ahead in my postings. I found that completing the “small” postings first helps to make room for focusing more on my larger assignments. Last semester I waited too long to start on my scholarly writing assignment, and therefore have set a goal for myself to start earlier this semester, posting to readings and other discussion boards early has made this possible for me.
Because it is so early in the semester still, I have not had too many challenges or frustrations. I have had some stress over the textbook reading and course reserves. I have never had to use electronic course reserves before and therefore I thought I was doing something wrong when I filled out the request form from Cline Library. However, through an email from the instructor, I have realized it wasn’t just me. It’s the library or some other misunderstanding. I am worried though that I may not receive points for some of my chapter readings because I do not have my textbook yet and the deadline has already passed for some of the chapter reflections. If so, I don’t think it would be fair or right to not award points to a student when we don’t even know what the textbook requirements are until the first day of class and then we have assignments due on the readings due pretty quickly thereafter. How can we complete those assignments if we have not been given enough time or even the correct tools to complete the assignment in time? I hope that’s not the case, but I’d just like to put my opinion and worries out there anyway.
As stated earlier, my accomplishments so far have been getting my postings done early. This has help to make time to spend on larger, more important projects.
My life as an online learner has recently just become easier. We finally received cable internet and therefore I am not being blocked by so many things from the school’s network and it doesn’t take forever for things to download. Cable internet is probably one of the best gifts God has given us as a human race. :o)
